BP plc, United Kingdom, announced that their latest generation technology of PTA production to China’s Dongying Weilian Chemical Co., Ltd. Weilian Chemical selected after competitive global bidding process started in 2019 and plans to build a PTA production unit with 2.5 million ton/year capacity. The facilities will be located in eastern Shandong province at the Dongying Port Economic Development Zone. The design phase for the unit is expected to complete during the first half of 2020 and aim to hatch the first production by second quarter of 2022.
The most advanced PTA technology, bpPTAg5, are claimed to achieved higher quality end products with lower carbon footprints, and the addition of PTA production facility aimed to improve quality and efficiency in further accelerating industrial transformation.
The cooperation with Dongying Weilian Chemical Co., Ltd is the third BP’s licensing project in China. Previously, the company gave their licensing projects to Xin Feng Ming Group project in 2017 and Ningxia Baota Chemical Fiber Co., Ltd in 2015.
