AlwaysFree: German Transport Companies Hurt by Rising Fuel Prices

Author: SSESSMENTS

The soaring energy prices are hurting German transport companies, putting them at risk of collapse.

Germany’s logistics association BGL called on the government to provide support for the sector being hit by the 58% hit in fuel prices year-to-date.

"Due to low-profit margins in road freight transport, transport companies that do not manage to pass on the cost increases risk their existence," BGL said on Thursday.

Previously on Wednesday, Germany's caretaker government stated that t would not take steps to ease the burden of rising energy prices as supplies are secured for the time being.

However, following the September 26’s national election, the next government could possibly assess possible measures.
