AlwaysFree: INEOS Plans €2-Billion Investment In Green Hydrogen Project

Author: SSESSMENTS

Chemical maker INEOS plans to invest €2 billion ($2.3 billion) to instal hydrogen electrolysers at some of its plants. INEOS subsidiary and leading electrolysis operator INOVYN will build electrolysers in INEOS plants in the UK, Belgium, Germany, France, and Norway over the next ten years. Electrolysers use renewable energy to extract “green” hydrogen from water. The project is expected to advance the expansion of green hydrogen production capacity across Europe.

According to the company, the first of the new electrolysers will have a 20MW capacity and will be installed at its plant in Norway. It is expected to reduce INEOS CO2 emissions by 22,000 tons/year. The second plant will have a 100MW capacity and will be built at INEOS’ plant in Cologne, Germany. It will provide hydrogen that will be used to produce green ammonia. It is expected to cut CO2 emissions by 120,000 tons/year.
