AlwaysFree: Turkey’s Ronesans To Invest $1.7 Billion In New Polypropylene (PP) Facility

Author: SSESSMENTS

Ronesans Holding announced last week it would invest approximately $1.7 billion in the Ceyhan polypropylene (PP) production facility in Adana, Turkey. The planned facility will have a total production capacity of 450,000 tons/year and is expected to be operational in 2025. It is expected to cut Turkey’s reliance on polypropylene (PP) imports by 20%. The plant will meet its fuel requirements from self-produced hydrogen and supply 80% of its electricity needs from renewable and hydroelectric power plants.

UOP Honeywell and LyondellBasell have been awarded contracts to provide their process technology licenses for the plant. Meanwhile, the procurement and construction activities will be executed by Tecnicas Reunidas. A joint investment will be made with Norway’s Stolt-Nielsen group, one of Norway’s established enterprises, to efficiently provide liquid load storage and terminal services in the region. Algeria’s state-owned energy company Sonatrach will also provide about 550,000 tons/year of feedstock for the new facility starting from 2040.
