AlwaysFree: US Refiners Seen Posting Higher Earnings On Improving Demand

Author: SSESSMENTS

US refiners are expected to post higher earnings in the third quarter of 2021 as gasoline and diesel margins improve despite rising crude oil prices. US fuel consumption has returned to five-year averages after being depressed for more than a year. That has raised margins on refined products to more than 100% from a year ago. Analysts expect the seven largest independent US refining firms to post an average earnings-per-share increase of 66 cents in the July-September period, compared to a loss of $1.32 in the same quarter in 2020.
