PlantsSSESSMENTS: NOVA Chemicals Declares Force Majeure On LLDPE Supply

Market sources informed SSESSMENTS.COM that Nova Chemicals had declared force majeure on LLDPE supply from its Joffre C4 facility near Red Deer in Alberta, Canada. The FM began taking effect on July 13 and affects all C4 LLDPE resins output from the facility. The sources noted that mechanical failures at the facility’s two butene LLDPE reactors were the main reason behind the FM. NOVA operates two LLDPE units in the Joffre facility with a collective capacity of 1.1 million tons/year. The FM does not affect NOVA’s other PE products.
