AlwaysFree: Exxon Plans First Large-Scale Plastic Waste Advanced Recycling Plant

Author: SSESSMENTS

ExxonMobil on October 11 announced that it would construct its first large-scale plastic waste advanced recycling facility in Baytown, Texas. Exxon has successfully recycled over 1,000 tons of plastic waste in an initial trial to demonstrate its proprietary technology to convert plastic waste into raw materials that can be used to make plastic and other products. The new facility is designed for recycling up to 30,000 tons/year of plastic waste in the initial phase, making it one of the largest in North America. The company plans to produce commercial volumes of certified circular polymers by the end of 2021. Exxon also intends to expand its global plastic recycling capacity to 500,000 tons/year by the end of 2026.
