Marathon Petroleum said on Tuesday that its 565,000 bpd refinery in Garyville, Louisiana, sustained minor damage from the Category 4 Hurricane Laura. The company added that the refinery still suffered from power outages. Hence, it used generators to power some parts of the facility to allow further damage assessments and repairs to continue. The Garyville refinery has the largest nameplate capacity among other plants in Louisiana. It was shut ahead of Ida’s landfall on August 29. Shell and PBF also said that their respective 230,000 bpd Norco refinery and 190,000 bpd Chalmette facility remained without power as of August 31. Meanwhile, Exxon said it had begun restarting its 500,000 bpd refinery in Baton Rouge.
