The Netherland’s LyondellBasell buys high-pressure steam generated from natural gas from Germany’s Evonik Industries AG.
The purchase will enable LyondellBasell to phase out coal from its Wesseling power plant in Germany by December 2023.
The deal will slash the site’s carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by around 170,000 tpa and optimizes steam supply and demand and improving energy efficiency for both partners.
