Shell Gas & Power Developments B.V. and Uniper Hydrogen GmbH will work together for the development of a hydrogen economy in Europe.
The cooperation aims to connect Uniper’s large-scale hydrogen projects with industrial customers to enable the decarbonization of Europe’s economy. It will start by researching the opportunity to develop potential synergies to accelerate existing projects in Germany, the Netherlands, and potentially other European countries.
The program will focus on exploring future options. Those include the necessary infrastructure for large-scale transport of hydrogen and CO2 from the ports of Rotterdam and Wilhelmshaven in the Netherland to Germany’s industrial heartland North-Rhine Westphalia (NRW), along with Shell’s Rheinland transformation.
Uniper will further explore the hydrogen supply from its existing production sites at Rotterdam and Wilhelmshaven to the Shell Energy and Chemicals Park Rheinlandlocations at Wesseling and Godorf.
Additionally, Uniper is set to connect its power plant in Gelsenkirchen Scholven as well as some large-scale customers with its coastal hydrogen production plants.
