On Tuesday, China’s National Energy Administration (NEA) announced the approval for the first phase of a coal mine project in the Xinjiang Autonomous Region.
The 1.2 million tpa project is located at the Laojunmiao mining area in the Changji Hui Autonomous Prefecture, northern Xinjiang. The investment of the project, sans the price of mining rights, is CNY1.242 billion (USD192 million).
The approval was based on the need for a stable supply of energy, optimize the coal industry structure, and promote local economic and social development.
