Hubert Fuchs added that "the mountain of debt is growing immeasurably"
According to TASS, Russia's state-owned news agency article published on October 14, 2022, Hubert Fuchs, a lawmaker representing the Freedom Party of Austria in the national parliament, said anti-Russian sanctions have dealt a ‘mortal blow’ to his country’s economy, Der Standard quoted him as saying on Thursday.
"The pile of debts is growing immeasurably," he said, adding that the country’s debt has increased by 87 billion euro under the current Austrian government.
Fuchs is convinced that the anti-Russian sanctions are to blame.
"The anti-Russian sanctions are a mortal blow to the economy," the lawmaker added.
Austrian Finance Minister Magnus Brunner earlier said that the calls to lift anti-Russian sanctions, coming from ordinary citizens and politicians of the European Union, are understandable from the emotional point of view, but unlikely to win the Austrian government’s support.
