AlwaysFree: Agilyx, Braskem Team Up To Explore Recycling Project in North America

Author: SSESSMENTS

Agilyx Corporation, a subsidiary of plastic recycling company Agilyx AS, and polyolefins producer Braskem have agreed to cooperate in a feasibility study to explore opportunities to develop an advanced plastics recycling project in North America. The project aims at examining the use of Agilyx’s advanced recycling technology to convert difficult-to-recycle mixed waste plastic into polypropylene (PP).

Agilyx’s feedstock management company, Cyclyx International, Inc., will provide the project with mixed waste plastics. In addition, the project also plans to produce PP with the necessary quality for demanding customer applications, including food packaging, consumer, and hygiene products.

Previously, ExxonMobil agreed to invest $8 million in Cyclyx in return to have a priority to get plastic waste for its recycling project. Braskem America and Encina also announced plans to reach a supply deal for renewable feedstock propylene from Encina’s proposed chemical recycling plant to build in the US.
