On Thursday, Mexican major polyethylene terephthalate (PET) producer Alpek announced its plan to completely eliminate its net greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from its global operations by 2050.
The decision followed the 12-week review of the company’s efforts around environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) targets.
Alpek has set to spur the recycling of PET bottles to 300,000 tons by 2025 and reach carbon neutrality by 2050.
The company is also willing to more frequently review ESG metrics.
