Antwerp, a Belgian port, has quarantined a Maltese-flagged oil tanker until at least July 4 after more than half of the ship crew has tested positive of COVID-19. The Minerva Oceania was being retained at the Leopold dock after 15 from 26 onboard crews were tested positive, and two of the crew members were hospitalized but port spokeswoman said that their condition was not serious. Other crews remained onboard and were isolated in separate cabins.
There was no detailed information of when the ship had arrived or where it had come from, but ship tracking website MarineTraffic reported that the ship arrived on June 19 after a month's journey from Qatar’s Las Raffan.
Antwerp port said they would review the situation on July 4, along with Flemish health authorities. The port is the place where around 60,000 work and meet on a daily basis.
