Author: SSESSMENTS

Gazprom is ready to begin talks with Belarus over gas supply in 2021. Over the past two decades, Belarus and Russia have had regular disagreements over the terms of Moscow gas supply to Minsk. In 2004 and 2010, it has resulted in interruptions to deliveries.

At the end of December, an agreement signed by Gazprom and Belarus on gas supply and transit for 2020. The pricing element of the contract in mid-February agreed by both sides.

Citing disagreements over the calorific value of Russian gas, Belarus now has requested that discussions resume over the terms of 2020 pricing. Belarus has asked for new information regarding the cost of Russian gas and has denied it owes any money to Gazprom.
