After two years of exploratory discussions and a study into increasing cooperations, Belgium’s Antwerp and Zeebrugge ports have begun talks on a possible merger, which could take up another two years.
The ports’ statement said that the current cooperation between the two ports has little impact due to the existing competition, limited scope, and low engagement. The two ports need a more thorough scope of cooperation, which would enable them to face future challenges including digitalization and greener energy.
