- The strategic partnership agreement between Borouge and Etihad Rail is considered as game-changer
According to Refining & Petrochemicals Middle East article published on November 30, 2022, Petrochemical major Borouge has signed a strategic partnership agreement with Etihad Rail to move its ‘Made In UAE’ solutions from Al Ruways Industrial City for export to customers around the world.
The partnership with Etihad Rail will contribute to strengthening local supply chains through optimised, accelerated, and diversified shipping networks, Borouge said in a social media post.
Through this partnership, the petrochemical maker will benefit from cost and time efficiencies, increasing its competitive advantage, the post said.
“The strategic partnership between petrochemical leader, Borouge and Etihad Rail is a game-changer in the transportation sector. Our logistics solution will facilitate the movement of goods in 4 hours via rail in comparison to the current 12 hours using alternative methods,” Etihad Rail said in a statement.
The partnership also includes the construction of a one million square metre railway hub in Al Ruways Industrial City. Borouge’s partnership with Etihad Rail will contribute to strengthening local supply chains through optimised, accelerated and diversified shipping networks, the statement noted.
Commenting on the development, Hazeem Sultan Al Suwaidi, CEO Borouge said, “Our strategic partnership with Etihad Rail will raise our operational efficiencies and support our growth strategy, which focuses on exporting our ‘Made in UAE’ solutions to meet growing customer demand.

According to Etihad Rail, with larger volumes on the move, this benefits the renowned petrochemical company Borouge and the UAE’s development.
