AlwaysFree: Cameron LNG Seeks More Time To Expand Export Terminal In Louisiana

Author: SSESSMENTS

According to Cameron LNG’s filling with the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the company asks the regulator for a 72-month extension until May 2026 to construct the second phase at its Cameron LNG export plant in Louisiana. Cameron LNG said in the filing that it expects to make an FID by mid-2021 to build two new liquefaction trains.

The company said it would take up to 58 months to construct the additional trains. Cameron LNG currently operates one train at the plant, while train 2 and 3 are expected to start commercial service in this year’s first and third quarter, respectively. The lead contractors for the project are Chiyoda Corp and McDermott International Inc.

The three trains have a combined export capacity of about 5.0 million tons/year, according to the FERC filing. Cameron LNG, a joint venture of Sempra Energy, Mitsui, Japan LNG Investment LLC, and Total, said it had invested $50 million for the expansion.
