Carlyle Group has acquired minority shares in Mubadala’s fully-owned Spanish oil and gas company Compania Espanola de Petroleos (Cepsa).
Carlyle acquired 37% of Cepsa while Mubadala remains the majority shareholder of the company with a 63% stake.
Both companies also appointed Philippe Boisseau as the CEO of Cepsa, succeeding the retiring Pedro Miro.
Mubadala will appoint five members of Cepsa’s board while Carlyle will appoint three members following the transaction. One independent member position will persist.
