AlwaysFree: China’s Sinopec Boosts Gas Supply To Meet Rising Demand Amid Cold Weather

Author: SSESSMENTS

China’s state-owned energy company Sinopec said on its website on Monday that it had boosted natural gas supply to the country’s northern regions to 10 Mcmd to meet rising demand from residential and industrial customers amid cold weather. That volume is equal to roughly 10% of the company’s annual domestic gas production and 6% of its gas supply. Sinopec’s total natural gas supplies currently stood at 180 Mcmd, including from domestic and imported sources. Meanwhile, its gas output reached a record high of 99.79 Mcmd on November 21.

Last week, China’s Central Meteorological Observatory warned that a cold snap could sweep across the whole country between November 20 and 23. Temperatures are forecast to fall by up to 14 degrees Celsius. The agency has so far issued three cold warnings this year. The previous two warnings were issued in mid-October and early November.
