AlwaysFree: Citgo, Phillips 66 Continue Lake Charles Refineries Repaires Post-Laura

Author: SSESSMENTS

Citgo Petroleum Corp. and Phillips 66 continue the reparation process of their refineries in Lake Charles, Louisiana after Hurricane Laura at the end of August.

Citgo’s reparation for its 425,000 bpd refining complex remains on schedule for an October restart. Critical repairs are on progress as power has gradually restored to the area, with partial power restored to two of the three refinery substations.

Previously, the operator has stated that the complex sustained major damage to most of its cooling towers, minor damage to noncritical tanks, and a large amount of unidentified miscellaneous damage in need of noncritical repairs, although the refinery fared well in general.

Citgo is optimistic that the refinery remains on track for a phased restart of operations with all units returned to service by mid to late-October.

Meanwhile, Phillips 66 expected an earlier restart. On September 14, the refiner said that its 249,000 bpd Lake Charles refining complex to become operational within two weeks, to operate while unidentified repairs are under way and take at least 3 months.
