China’s drilling major CNOOC is leading in the slashing of Canadian oil sands.
From its Long Lake oil sands facility, CNOOC has curbed the rate of carbon dioxide (CO2) released by a third between 2011-2019, according to the Alberta Energy Regulator.
The performance was supported by the US ban on US technology to CNOOC’s parent company on account of the geopolitical tensions in the South China Sea.
