Colonial Pipeline said it had restarted its Lines 1 and 2 after completing safety assessments following the Category 4 Hurricane Ida. The two lines run from Houston to Greensboro and are the primary fuel artery for the large part of the US Southeast and East Coast. They were halted ahead of the storm, while Lines 3 and 4 from North Carolina to New Jersey continued operations. Colonial typically ships more than 100 million gallons of fuels per day. Its network stretches over 5,500 miles (8,851.4 kilometres) from Houston to New York, supplying about 45% of the US East Coast’s gasoline and diesel consumption.
