On Tuesday, China Oil & Gas Piping Network Corp (PipeChina) stated that the construction of the southern part of the China-Russia East natural gas pipeline has started.
The southern portion starts at Yongqing, China’s northern province of Hebei, and ends in Shanghai in the eastern part of the country. After the launch in 2025, the southern part of the pipeline would move 18.9 bcmpa of natural gas to the Yangtze River delta region.
The full pipeline is planned to be 5,111 km (3,176 miles) to transfer natural gas from Russia’s Siberian region to China. PipeChina will take charge of the investment, construction, and management of the Yongqing to Shanghai pipeline after taking it over from PetroChina.
