AlwaysFree: Dow, Thong Guan Launch Bio-Based Stretch Cling Films

Author: SSESSMENTS

Dow and Malaysian plastic packaging maker Thong Guan on July 27 launched the Nano Bio, a new range of stretch cling films made from bio-based polyethylene (bio-PE) resins. Thong Guan will utilize state-of-the-art nanotechnology to manufacture the Nano Bio stretch cling films. The new products will have increased strength, flexibility, and durability to meet requirements for renewable plastics in the Asia Pacific region.

According to Dow’s website, Thong Guan will produce the new range of stretch cling films by using Dow’s ELITE™ 5230GC R Enhanced Polyethylene Resins, a bio-based LLDPE produced from renewable feedstock. The resin is produced by converting bio-naphtha from tall oil, a byproduct of paper pulp production. The product is part of Dow’s plans to reduce carbon footprint significantly.
