According to Zawya article published on December 27, 2022, the Egyptian Cabinet approved in principle to grant the rights of managing and operating the freight transport sector at the Egyptian National Railways (ENR) to a consortium of private companies following a tender, according to an official statement on December 22nd.
The cabinet also approved a draft presidential decree on the allocation of three state-owned plots of land to be used for the construction of water desalination plants until 2050 in partnership with the private sector.
The allocated land plots span a 44.36-feddan in the Suez governorate, a 104.88-feddan in Hurghada, and a 29.35-feddan in East Port Said.
On November 21st, Egypt’s planning minister Hala El-Said revealed that the government was preparing to offer new water desalination projects through The Sovereign Fund of Egypt.
