AlwaysFree: EIA: US Crude Inventories Massively Increased

For the week ended April 3, US commercial crude oil inventories, excluding the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) rose by 15.2 million barrels week-on-week to 484.4 million barrels.

According to the US Energy Information Administration (EIA)’s weekly Petroleum Status Report, the figure was around 2% above the 5-year average for this time of year.

Total motor gasoline stockpiles rose by 10.5 million barrels or 10% above the 5-year average. Stockpiles of finished gasoline and blending components both increased. Distillate fuel stockpiles climbed by 476,000 barrels, 12% below the 5-year average. 

Propane-propylene inventories went down by 168,000 barrels but still 26% above the 5-year average.

Refineries operated at 75.6% if capacity. Inputs averaged at 13.6 million bpd, down by 1.3 million bpd week-on-week. Gasoline production slumped to an average of 5.8 million bpd while distillate fuel production rose to an average of 5.0 million bpd.

Imports of crude oil averaged 5.9 million bpd for the week ended August 2. Over the last 4 weeks, oil imports average slumped by 8.4% year-on-year at 6.1 million bpd. 

Imports of motor gasoline, including finished gasoline and gasoline blending components were at an average of 493,000 bpd. Distillate fuel imports averaged at 185,000 bpd.
