On Wednesday, a fire blasted within a unit in the subsidiary of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Co., Abadan Petrochemical Co., in Abadan, southwestern Iran. Later in the day, the fire was brought under control under an hour.
The blaze occurred due to a bursting pipe at a unit of the plant located near the major refinery. According to state news agency IRNA, the fire was minor and unnamed sources said two workers were reported to be hurt.
There was no report if the complex’s operations have been affected. The Abadan complex has a small naphtha cracker and produces benzene.
