On Thursday morning, LyondellBasell Industries’ Houston refinery was caught on fire but it was soon be extinguished.
The fire broke out at around 05.30 AM local time (10.30 GMT) and was extinguished in 30 minutes.
The accident caused the 49,000-bpd 634 cat feed/heavy gas oil hydrotreater to be shut. According to sources, the fire broke out after a sight glass on the unit broke.
There were no injuries reported due to the accident and the extent of damage to the unit was unknown yesterday.
