Fujairah Oil Industry Zone (FOIZ) will launch plans for new storage, and refining projects, the company’s director Captain Salem al-Hamoudi said last week. He said that details on the projects would be revealed soon.
FOIZ is aiming to expand its total area to 10.6sq-km in the next 15 to 16 months by reclaiming about 66 sq-km from the sea. Al-Hamoudi said around 30% of the area had been reclaimed. The additional land will be used to build LPG, LNG, and petrochemicals facilities as well as expanding more refining capacity.
Fujairah is the largest bunkering hub in the region, taking advantage of its location near the Strait of Hormuz. ADNOC and Saudi Aramco are among companies operating in Fujairah.
