Poland’s Gaz-System said Europipe would supply pipes for Poland’s offshore section of a planned gas link to Norway, known as the Baltic Pipe.
Poland sees the Baltic Pipe as a step to expand its gas supply. Under a long-term contract with Gazprom that expires in 2022, most of Poland’s gas supply is currently imported from Russia.
Via the Baltic Sea and Denmark, the connection is expected to link Poland with Norwegian gas fields in October 2022. The capacity of the Baltic Pipe will be 10 bcm a year.
Poland’s minister for energy infrastructure said, “The Baltic Pipe implementation will enable the import of up to 10 bcm of gas from deposits on the Norwegian Continental Shelf to Poland from October 2022.”
