On Friday, the Gas Exporting Countries' Forum (GECF) said that natural gas is indispensable for the global energy mix to limit climate change and protecting the environment.
The forum also said that it aimed to further promote the use of natural gas as an environmentally-friendly transport fuel, including for global shipping.
GECF is against the unilateral economic sanctions in the gas sector, mainly against its member countries. The US, for example, passed a sanction in 2017 granting President Donald Trump the power to impose measures against companies investing in Russian energy export infrastructure.
The forum is promoting the use of long-term contracts and supporting oil-linked pricing despite the growing trend in the global gas industry for the shorter-term and spot gas purchases.
