AlwaysFree: German Uniper Reassess Wilhelmshaven LNG Terminal Plan

Author: SSESSMENTS

On Friday, German utility Uniper stated that it would reassess the plan for a liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in Wilhelmshaven on the back of market reluctance in fixing bookings for import capacities.

The company said that several market players took part in the procedure and expressed general interest, but not enough of them have made their booking intentions binding.

The Wilhelmshaven project is one of the three proposed LNG terminals in Germany and aimed at diversifying the country’s energy supply.

The plan originally intended to make Wilhelmshaven a Floating Regasification and Storage Unit with a 10 bcmpa or 7.3 million tpa capacity. The new options for the project include utilizing it as an import port for greener gas, along with a possibility of importing hydrogen.
