The transition from fossil fuels to green energy sources is at risk due to the high energy prices.
On Thursday, Swedish Finance Minister Magdalena Andersson, who is also the head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF)’s steering committee, commented that the high energy prices should not become an excuse to slow the transition to clean energy sources to tackle climate change.
IMF is working to incorporate climate change risks into its analyses of risks facing its members.
IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva also advised policymakers to remain vigilant as, according to the IMF’s assessment, the current inflationary pressures were transitory.
