AlwaysFree: India’s Manali Petrochemicals to Expand PG Capacity

Author: SSESSMENTS

India’s only manufacturer of propylene glycol (PG), Manali Petrochemicals Ltd., will make a sizable investment to expand its production capacity to decrease India’s dependence on imports from China and the Middle East.

Manali will spend INR150 crore (USD20.3 million) to boost its PG capacity to 70,000 tpa from the current 22,000 tpa in two phases. The first phase would add 24,000 t of capacity in 18 months to 21 months’ time. It will be funded internally.

According to the company, India is facing a huge demand for PG at 100,000 t annually and would grow by 5% each year. Roughly three-quarters of that amount comes from imports. Manali plans to save significant import bills and prepares India towards self-sufficiency in PG production capability.
