According to Reuters article published on February 17, 2023, India's Reliance Industries, operator of the world's biggest refining complex, raised Russian oil imports by about 32% in January from the previous month to 455,600 barrels per day (bpd) drawn to the discounts offered, data obtained from trade sources showed.
Reliance overall imported 1.36 million bpd oil in January, up 8.5% from the previous month, the data showed.
Like other Indian refiners, Reliance has significantly increased processing of discounted Russian oil after some Western companies and countries shunned purchases from Moscow following its invasion of Ukraine.
The sources declined to be identified as they were not authorised to speak with the media.
Following are details of Reliance's crude and condensate imports. Volumes are in 1,000 bpd.
