Grasim Industries announced on November 6 that it had begun the commissioning process of its new chloromethane (CMS) plant in Vilayat, Gujarat. The new unit is capable of producing up to 50,000 tons/year of chloromethane (CMS) and will serve both domestic and international markets. Grasim expects the new operation to generate annual revenue of INR400 crore ($54 million). Grasim is a major producer of chlor-alkali, linen, insulators, and viscose staple fibre in India. The company also owns subsidiaries focusing on cement production and financial services.
