AlwaysFree: Indonesia’s BP Tangguh LNG Train 3 Again Delayed

Author: SSESSMENTS

BP Plc.’s Tangguh LNG plant in Indonesia will again delay the operation activity of Train 3 due to the labor restriction on coronavirus precaution.

According to Dwi Soetjipto, chairman of upstream oil and gas regulator, SKK Migas, Train 3 is now expected to start production in the fourth quarter of 2021. However, Moektianto Soeryowibowo, head of BP Indonesia, said that the delay could be ended in early 2022.

Train 3 completion has delayed twice before. It was originally set to be completed in the third quarter of 2020 due to natural disasters that disrupted logistics, then delayed again to the third quarter of 2021.

The third delay was due to the implementation of health protocols where the number of workers had been limited to around 6,000 from the normally around 13,000.

Upon completion, in the first year, Train 3 would raise Tangguh’s output capacity by 40 cargoes and in the following years by 60 cargoes.
