A spokesman of Indonesia’s state-run energy company PT Pertamina said that the company will proceed with the expansion of its refinery in Cilacap, Central Java, without Saudi Aramco as talks since 2016 could not be finalized in the first quarter of this year.
Spokesman Fajriyah Usman stated that Pertamina is still looking for another strategic partner while independently continuing the expansion. He also confirmed that the planned joint venture with Aramco has been canceled.
The Cilacap Refinery Development Master Plan targets an increase in the refinery’s refining capacity from 348,000 bpd to 400,000 bpd.
In 2019, Pertamina had said that the development would proceed with or without partners to fulfill the operational schedule of 2025.
