On Wednesday, the Deputy Oil Minister and Chief Executive of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), Majid Chegeni said that Iran is ready to extend its gas export contract with Iraq.
Iran’s Oil Ministry was ready to consider new proposals from Iraq’s Ministry of Electricity to prolong the existing gas export contract.
In a meeting with the Iraqi Minister of Electricity, Iranian Oil Minister Javad Owji said that amongst the priorities of Iran’s current administration is negotiations with various parties to increase gas exports and trade.
At the moment, Iran has two contracts with Iraq to export gas to the country with a total capacity of 35 million m2/day.
