AlwaysFree: Iranian Officials Say Oil, Gas Facilities Unaffected By Strong Persian Gulf Earthquakes

Author: SSESSMENTS

Iranian officials told state-run television Shana that operations and construction of oil and gas facilities in the Hormozgan province were unaffected by the 6.4 and 6.3 magnitude earthquakes that jolted the region on November 14. Mohammadali Mojtahedzadeh, the public relations head for the 350,000 bpd Bandar Abbas refinery, said the plant remained intact although the quakes cut off telecommunication and power systems, cracked houses, and killed a man. Hamed Mollazadeh-Sadeghiyoun, the head of the provincial oil products distributor, said that fuel supply stations were also unaffected. The National Iranian Gas Co. said no gas projects and plants were damaged by the earthquakes. The company’s spokesman also noted that the quakes resulted in no disruptions to gas flows.
