AlwaysFree: Japan’s METI Expects Delays Of US LNG Shipments Due To Hurricane Ida

Author: SSESSMENTS

An official with Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry on Monday said that shipments of LNG cargoes from Cameron and Freeport in the US to Japan might be delayed due to the Category 4 Hurricane Ida. The official said the possible delays could have a critical impact amid Japan’s summer power demand season. The storm has forced shutdowns of roughly 95% of oil and gas output in the US Gulf. In July, the US was Japan’s no.5 LNG supplier with 610,855 tons, about 10% of Japan’s total LNG imports. Market participants said Ida had a limited impact on USGC LNG production. As of August 30, feedgas flows to some major liquefaction plants only fell slightly, the sources added.
