AlwaysFree: JGC Holdings Corporation: Ceremony Held To Celebrate Mozambique Coral FLNG 1st LNG Cargo

According to the company’s website news release on December 19, 2022, JGC Holdings Corporation (Representative Director, Chairman and CEO Masayuki Sato) announced that a ceremony was held in Mozambique on 23 November to celebrate the 1st LNG cargo shipment from Coral South project, operated by Eni on behalf of Area 4 Partners. JGC Corporation (Representative Director and President Farhan Mujib), which operates the overseas engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) business of the JGC Group, implemented the Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation & Commissioning (EPCIC) for the Coral Sul FLNG, in a consortium with Technip Energies N.V., TechnipFMC plc and Samsung Heavy Industries Co., Ltd..

Approximately 300 people participated in the Coral Sul FLNG Inauguration Ceremony, including Filipe Nyusi, President of the Republic of Mozambique, Guido Brusco, COO Natural Resources of Eni, Estevão Pale, COO of ENH, Tadashi Ishizuka President & COO of JGC Holdings, Marco Villa COO of Technip Energies, and YG Kang EVP of Samsung Heavy Industries.

This landmark project was awarded in 2017 to the consortium by Coral FLNG SA, a special purpose entity established by Area 4 Partners in Mozambique. After overcoming challenges including the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the consortium successfully achieved Sail Away from the Korean shipyard to offshore Mozambique in November 2021, with full consideration given to HSE, maintaining schedule, and ensuring quality management. Following commissioning, the first shipment of LNG cargo was achieved on 13 November 2022.

This is the world's first large-scale FLNG (3.4 million tons per year) for ultra deepwater gas field with a water depth of over 2,000 meters. the company are convinced the significant achievement will serve as a stepping stone for further expansion of the operations in the Republic of Mozambique.

In addition to Coral Sul FLNG, as a leading global contractor for LNG and Floating LNG projects, the JGC Group's experience includes two other new-built EPC FLNGs projects out of the total of three in operation around the world, and the company are currently performing the front end engineering design (FEED) for the FLNG projects for Petronas in Malaysia and UTM in Nigeria.
