Jordanian Energy Ministry Spokesperson Mashhour Abu Eid said that the ministry had granted initial approval for a project to build a new refining and petrochemical complex in the south of the country. The proposed capacity for the project is 150,000 bpd of refined products which will be sold in export markets.
Mashhour Abu Eid added the approval requires the project to comply with suitable technical and financial guidelines. The government will not have any obligation to secure raw materials for the complex nor any other financial and contract obligations, he noted.
