- It is reported that the regional center should become a ‘counter-magnet’ for Almaty
According to TASS, Russia's state-owned news agency article published on October 19, 2022, more than 50 multinational companies have moved from Russia to Kazakhstan, the republic’s president Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said at a meeting with public representatives on Wednesday.
"More than 50 international companies from Russia have moved to Kazakhstan as of today. It is counterproductive to concentrate them all in large cities. The Akimat (administration - TASS) should deal with placing such companies near Almaty along the Big Almaty Ring Road, which would substantially help the region’s economy. There should be a discussion of the issue between the government and companies," he said.
The regional center should become a ‘counter-magnet’ for Almaty, according to the president. "We should create all the conditions necessary for investors to open new production facilities, including those relocating from other countries. It is necessary to deal with the issue now to ensure uninterrupted trade turnover with our foreign partners," the president’s press service quoted Tokayev as saying.
