On Thursday, Kolon Industries signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Switzerland’s plastic recycling company gr3n for a partnership in the polyethylene terephthalate (PET) waste recycling business.
Kolon will produce recycled PET (rPET) chips for various purposes using the renewable materials supplied by gr3n. They plan to mass-produce eco-friendly renewable plastics starting from 2025.
gr3n has cultivated the technology to significantly cut the energy and time required to convert PET waste into high-purity raw materials using the microwave.
