Libya’s 120,000 bpd Zawiya refinery has returned to normal operations after sustaining severe damage due to skirmishes among armed groups near the site on October 26. The fighting damaged 13 tanks used to store crude oil, oil products, base oils, and chemical additives, leading to leaks. It also damaged an electrical transformer, which provided power for the oil mixing and filling. State-owned National Oil Corp said immediately after the skirmishes that it was assessing damage at the refinery. NOC chairman Mustafa Sanalla also urged the authorities to help safeguard oil facilities in the country.
