To meet the growing demand for eco-friendly materials, LCTM, one of Southeast Asia’s largest polyolefins producers, teams up with Milliken, an innovative global additives maker, for eight of its polypropylene grades, including the recently launched Titanpro® SM798N. With this latest product addition, LCTM now uses UL-certified solutions from Milliken in its six random copolymers and two homopolymer polypropylene grades for high clarity container, bottle, and thin-walled container applications. Through this portfolio, LCTM enables customers and brand-owners to offer high-performance, sustainable solutions while reducing their carbon footprint.
LCTM recently introduced Titanpro® SM798N, a high flow and clarified grade designed for high transparency thin wall articles. The new polypropylene random copolymer resin offers crystal-clear glass-like clarity thanks to Milliken’s Millad® NX® 8000 clarifier used in the production. The new resin delivers excellent surface finish, pleasing colour, and outstanding dimensional stability. It has a flexural modulus of 10,000 kg/cm2 and a notched Izod impact strength of 4 kg·cm/cm at 23° Celsius, offering an exceptional balance between rigidity and impact strength. Titanpro® SM798N is a high flow grade with 60g/10min MFR, which can further reduce product weight and give greater flexibility in design. It also has the advantage of low processing melt temperature, helping manufacturers to conserve their energy use. Using Titanpro® SM798N enables 10% CO2 emission reduction and 10% energy saving, equal to saving 85 cars running per year or saving 133 acres of forest per year for every 10,000 tons of production.
LCTM’s six random copolymers use Milliken’s Millad® NX® 8000 clarifier, which improves consistency across various processing conditions while providing better shelf appeal and attractive appearance. This ground-breaking additive enables producers to save energy by 5%-10% and shorten the cycle time by 5%-10% during the production process, reducing costs and carbon emission. Meanwhile, LCTM’s two homopolymer polypropylene grades use Milliken’s Hyperform® HPN™ nucleator, enabling manufacturers to produce polypropylene products with reduced cooling time, lower warpage, increased stiffness, better heat resistance, and better optical properties. These random copolymer and homopolymer polypropylene solutions from LCTM also meet the requirements of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the safe use of polyolefin intended for food contact use.
Both Milliken’s Millad® NX® 8000 clarifier and Hyperform® HPN™ nucleator have the Environmental Claim Validation label from UL, an independent, sustainability solutions provider. This certification ensures that these Milliken’s solutions possess environmentally preferable attributes. By adopting the UL Label, LCTM visibly demonstrates a positive contribution to the environment on product packaging and marketing materials.
