The Louisiana Offshore Oil Port (LOOP) is restoring operations after sustaining the Category 4 Hurricane Ida. However, it remained unclear when the deepwater port would return to normal operations. The restart of LOOP will play an important role in the resumption of offshore oil and gas production in the US Gulf.
Port officials said they had completed initial visual assessments of the damage and are currently focused on ensuring a safe reopening of the port. However, they cannot predict when the power supply will resume fully. They noted that the Ted Gisclair Floodgate and the Leon Theriot Lock remained closed to all vessel traffic. The main Louisiana Highway 1 was also closed for passage due to debris.
